JOB PLACEMENT SERVICES
 
Hire an ABC Worker Directly and Get a Great Employee and Some Valuable Benefits.
Community-based employment services are an important and integral part of Ability Building Center’s vocational rehabilitation programs. The goal of Competitive Placement Services is to assist job-ready individuals in achieving their desired vocational goals by securing and retaining competitive employment in their community.
Benefits to Employers
  • No hiring fees
  • Pre-screening of candidates to match skills with job openings
  • Assistance identifying natural supports and developing positive relationship with co-worker(s) and supervisor(s)
  • Job Tryouts are designed to assist employers in considering individuals for employment through a process of observation and work experience on the job. Job tryouts typically last one to two weeks. The employer is under no obligation to hire the individual. All Workers’ Compensation and liabilities will be covered through Ability Building Center. At the conclusion of the job tryout, the employer can choose to hire the individual or Ability Building Center can use the job tryout experience to look at other employment or training options for the individual.
  • The Work Opportunity Tax Credit is a federal tax program designed to help individuals of certain target groups secure meaningful employment by providing a federal income tax credit incentive to employers who hire them. A business employing a vocational rehabilitation client with a written plan from a state or veterans administration counselor within the past 24 months is eligible for this tax credit. www.mnwfc.org/wotc.
  • Job Coaching assists employers with the orientation process of new employees, provides on-the-job training, and assists with follow up services.
  • Retention and Follow Up Services are provided by an ABC Program Coordinator to facilitate good communication and develop a positive relationship between supervisor(s), co-worker(s) and employee. This helps employers continue to identify natural supports to assist new hires become confident, successful, and independent in their job.
