The Mission of ABC is to improve the quality of life in Southern Minnesota by providing rehabilitation and employment services for persons with disabilities and other special needs.
Everyone benefits when people with disabilities work!

Ability Enterprises (AE)

Ability Enterprises provides services during the day to a variety of individuals. AE is licensed as a Day Training and Habilitation (DT&H) program. AE provides vocational opportunities and recreation and leisure activities to persons with a variety of disabilities including: developmental, traumatic brain injury, or mental illness. Participants have to be at least 18 years of age. Community integration and involvement is the goal of Abililty Enterprises.

AE clients work at over 40 businesses throughout Rochester, providing services such as housekeeping, custodial, dishwashing, silverware wrapping, general assembly, recycling, and many more. Each group of clients form a "crew", and each crew works with a job coach to provide valuable services to businesses while the crew members gain valuable work, social, and personal skills.

Many AE participants and their team’s choose to work in-center at ABC. In-center work opportunities including: digital imaging/document scanning, paper shredding, assembly, labeling and mailings. The in-center program can create a sense of security and consistency necessary for some participants.

Transportation services are also provided by AE for our participants to meet their ever-changing needs. Many AE participants utilize the city bus each and every day to get to and from work. A variety of transportation options are available.

Ability Options (AO)

Many individuals are not interested in paid work opportunities. Some participants have worked for many years and no longer desire to work regularly. The AO program was created to meet the growing needs of this group. AO provides leisure and recreation opportunities to encourage growth and activity. AO participants enjoy crafts, baking, exercise, and community outings. These activities promote skill building and socialization with others. Together, AO staff and participants create a monthly schedule of activities to keep busy and active.

Fees and Referrals:

Funding for AE and AO can come from a variety of sources. The most common funding source is through Medical Assistance, or MA. Referrals to services typically come from County Social Workers, but direct referrals are possible. t
